Employer Information
What is a Traineeship:
A traineeship is a training agreement between the Employer and an Employee,
in which the Employer provides training and the Employee learns the skills and
competencies to undertake the job. For Employees who have been with the organization
less than three months full time or twelve (12)months part time training is
funded by the Victorian Government. These Employees are termed "New Employees".
Under certain conditions Employees who have been with the organization longer
than the above periods can still undertake the traineeship and the Employer
will still obtain the Federal Government Grant, but the Employer will have to
fund the Training.
The Training can be developed to suit the specific needs of your organization
and may be totally on-the-job or combined with off the job programs. Trainees
can be employed on Full time, Part time or Casual basis (subject to appropriate
Industrial Relations arrangements being in place). When all of the agreed competencies
have been achieved, the Trainee will obtain a Nationally recognized Qualification.
Employees must be at least 15 years of age to commence a Traineeship. There
is no maximum age level. They may already hold a qualification but this will
have an effect on the amount and type of funding. (Ask your MRP Rep for details).
The duration of the Traineeship can be varied by agreement between the Employer
and Employee. This can be done at anytime during the Traineeship.
