RTO - Registered Training Organisation
OTTE - shortened acronym for Office of Training
and Tertiary Education(OTTE) and also at times referred to as the State Training
Board, this is a state government department to which we as an RTO are answerable
NAC - New Apprenticeship Centre, NAC's are funded
by Federal government to sign up trainees and apprentices and administer incentive
claims on their behalf
TRAINING AGREEMENT - is the contract the employer
and trainee sign to authorise the traineeship
COMMENCEMENT DATE - is the date the actual training
agreement is signed
CLAIM FORM - this is a blue form code 1261, which
allows the employer to make claims through their elected NAC for the financial
incentive provided for employing a trainee. Can also be a computer generated
form sent directly to employer from NAC.
TRAINING PLAN - is the form which contains all
the competencies available within a course, separated into core and electives
and allows Trainee, Employer and Assessor to select relevant modules to be completed
to attain Certificate.
TRAINING ASSESSMENT REPORT (TAR) - is the form
which one enters the modules that have been assessed as competent, modules issued
to the trainee and also the details of training provided to the trainee. It
is signed by the Trainees, Supervisor and assessor
STRUCTURED TRAINING DIARY - this requirement
requires the RTO to maintain a record of the on the job training provided by
the employer. Requirements are 12 hours per month for a full time trainee and
pro rata thereof for a part time trainee this record must be kept and initialled
by the supervisor, activities diarised should best correlate to the competencies
studied at that time
INITIAL VISIT - is the very first contact the
workplace assessor has with the trainee and supervisor, the induction visit
at which time the training plan is detailed, electives discussed and the learning
materials explained
INITIAL ASSESSMENTS - initial assessments are
conducted at the beginning of a new competency and are designed to identify
existing knowledge of the trainee.
ASSESSMENTS - are conducted at the end of completing
a whole competency
NEW - when referring to a trainee who fits the
eligibility criteria of the traineeship guidelines, has been employed for no
more than 3 months full time or 12 months part time
EXISTING - when the trainee does not fit the
eligibility criteria of the new trainee, the employer may still be eligible
for the incentive payments and pay the RTO an agreed amount to provide the training
